The International Office of AMIGOS de las Américas is a member of the following organizations:

1) Independent Sector  (www.indepsec.org)

Independent Sector is a national leadership forum, working to encourage philanthropy, volunteering, not-for-profit initiative and citizen action that help us better serve people and communities.  Founded in 1980, and based in Washington, D.C., Independent Sector is a national coalition of voluntary organizations, foundations and corporate giving programs with national interest and impact in philanthropy and voluntary action.

 

2) InterAction  (www.interaction.org)

InterAction is a membership association of US private voluntary organizations engaged in international humanitarian efforts including relief, development, refugee assistance, environment, population, public policy, and global education.

 

3) Youth Service America  (www.servenet.org)

Youth Service America is a resource center and alliance of organizations committed to community and national service.  The mission is to increase the quality and quantity of opportunities for young people to serve locally, nationally, and globally.  Founded in 1986 as a catalyst and organizing force for citizen service, Youth Service America is committed to programs that promote the ideals of service, empower youth, and strengthen institutions.

 

4) International Volunteer Programs Association (IVPA)  (www.volunteerinternational.org)

IVPA is a new alliance of non-profit, non-governmental organizations based in the Americas that are involved in international volunteer and internship exchanges.  IVPA is a professional network that encourages excellence and responsibility in the field of international volunteerism and promotes public awareness of and greater access to international volunteer programs.

 

5) NAFSA (Association of International Educators)  (www.nafsa.org)

NAFSA promotes the exchange of students and scholars to and from the United States.  The Association sets and upholds standards of good practice and provides professional education and training that strengthen institutional programs and services related to international student exchange.  NAFSA provides a forum for discussion of issues and a network for sharing information as it seeks to increase awareness of and support for international education in higher education, government and the community.
